Michelle Smith

Michelle is a Registered Nurse at Dunstan hospital in Central Otago where she has worked for the last 17 years.  For the past 5 years she has also been a research nurse with the GP and Rural Department at Otago University on HRC funded projects including the Rural Accelerated Chest pain pathway and developing The Geographic Classification for Health (GCH). Michelle is interested in increasing the rural nursing research capacity in New Zealand and completed her Masters in Health Sciences (endorsed in Nursing) in 2023. She is an active member of the Rural Hospital, the Rural Nurses, and the Research and Education Chapters in Hauora Taiwhenua, as well as an elected employee member of the Central Otago Health Incorporated board (community board that oversees community assets at Dunstan Hospital). 

Michelle lives in Alexandra and loves mountain biking.
